Water Mains

steel pipe

A home with city water has a water main which is an underground pipe that is used to transport potable water from a water utility to your home. These pipes could be galvanized, copper, polyethylene, or some very old water mains are cast iron. Water mains could leak or break for many reasons, including punctures caused by sharp rocks /debris in the ground, by your house settling, or by recent landscaping, construction, or heavy equipment. Common symptoms of having a broken/leaky water main are sudden decrease in water pressure, and/or dirty water.

If necessary, we can replace or repair your water main as needed. Generally, if a leak has occurred, it is better to replace the entire line, however, due to certain circumstances. Sometimes that is not feasible, in which case, we can replace only the bad section of the water main. Obviously, there will need to be some excavation to do this work, which we offer to coordinate for the homeowner to decrease the stress of having to coordinate between two contractors.

Sometimes city water pressure isn’t as good as you prefer. To “boost” the water pressure in a home that has city water, a booster pump is ideal. We service, install, replace, and repair booster pumps regularly. We use Goulds brand pumps which we believe to be the best in the industry. If you have city water and your water pressure isn’t sufficient, you may want to consider having a Goulds variable speed booster pump installed in your home. Call us today for more information.
